Workshop with María Berríos: ‘The Path is Not the Path.’ Poetic and political experiments in radical pedagogy.
On the Pacific coast of South America half a century ago, a small school of architecture argued that pedagogy is nothing more than ‘the human joy of talking to one another’. A group of poet-architects encouraged their students to go out and tour the city under the premise that important things cannot be learned in the classroom, but by participating in the life of the city, in its intimacy. In a practical and heterodox way, the workshop will reflect on some of these premises, trying to update that American way of experiencing and learning from the street, through collective activities in the city of Barcelona.

María Berríos is a sociologist, editor, writer and independent curator, who lives and works between Santiago de Chile and Copenhagen. Her most recent exhibition, The Body of the Architect is not that of a Single Man, on the work of Alberto Cruz, co-founder of the School of Valparaíso, has just opened at the MAVI (Santiago de Chile).

Workshop with valeria flores: Erotic Writing. Sensitive experiences for educational dissidence
Packed with invention and incitement, this workshop aims at making a collective experiment through writing practices that alter, question and dispute our usual ways of writing; to become a body and educational knowledge, arranging a space-time for experimentation as an exercise in temporal, sensitive and cognitive excitement. Writing practices are understood as a way of producing thought and pedagogical sensibility, willing to incite a set of contagions and mutual affectations, body languages, textures of subjectivity, counter-institutional rhythms and the ghostly erotica of the imagination.

This invitation to write based on feminist theory and practice, sexual dissent, queer and decolonial theories, calls on the participants to experience ways of approaching pedagogy from a de-heterosexualising perspective of educational knowledge and the erotic as a desiring force and affective intensifier of the body and knowledge. The aim is to rethink pedagogical practices around sexualities, genres, desires, and to invent disobedient knowledge of/about ourselves, entering into the analysis of the sensitive and political order in which we participate.

Workshop with Sofía Olascoaga: The Institutionalised Imagination? Other ways of learning are possible
What kind of relationships do we learn and begin to internalise during our school years? How do we repeat and reproduce codes, rituals, certifications and assessments throughout our productive life? What types of knowledge and learning are devalued by being outside the institutionally recognised specialisations and their reproduction through certified professions? Based on the collective reading of some critical notions proposed by Ivan Illich during the 1970s, we will approach ‘learning frameworks’ and ‘social tools’ as elements for rethinking the configuration of teaching-learning relationships, and analyse experiments of construction of autonomy and organisation imagined as coexisting societies.

Sofía Olascoaga works in the intersection between art and education through the activation of spaces that promote critical thought and collective action. Her research focuses on a critical evaluation of the tension between utopia and the failure of models attempting to create communities and alternatives in education developed in the city of Cuernavaca, Mexico, in recent years.
