Susana Solano One of the first women artists to be exposed at MACBA

“My father made us a swing over an irrigation pond on an estate planted with hazels, vines and almond trees [...]. I once remarked [...], when she asked me what I felt sculpture was, that the spaces I had lived in were still present, perhaps as linked atmospheres, in some of my works.” (Susana Solano, Muecas. Susana Solano was one of the two women artists present at the first exhibition held at the MACBA the last weekend of April 1995, when the new Meier building opened to the public in Barcelona. After a long queue that crossed the recently remodelled Plaça dels Àngels, citizens could visit the museum and the 18 works exhibited. Among the 15 artists present at the Opening of doors, there were works by Susana Solano and Eva Lootz.
