Desvío hacia lo innombrable

Suely Rolnik is a psychoanalyst, writer and teacher of clinical psychology at the Catholic University of São Paulo, where she co-ordinates the Centre for Research on Subjectivity (Núcleo de Estudios de la Subjetividad). She lived in exile in Paris from 1970 to 1979, where she graduated in philosophy, social sciences and psychology. During this time, she forged a relationship with the philosopher Gilles Deleuze – some of whose work she translated into Portuguese – and Guattari. Rolnik’s friendship with the artist Lygia Clark, whose last work Estructuraçaõ do self, was the subject of her thesis in France (1978) as well as of the research project Nós somos o molde. A vocês cabe o sopro. Lygia Clark, da obra ao acontecimento also dates back to this period. Among other books, she is author of Micropolítica. Cartografias do desejo (1986; 7th revised edition, 2005), written in conjunction with Guattari, and she is a regular contributor to magazines such as Multitudes, Traffic, Chimères, Parkett and Trópico.
