Mabel Palacín (Barcelona, 1965) has a degree in Art History and Film, Photography and Video from the University of Barcelona. She is part of the generation of Catalan artists who took their first steps in the art world in the early nineties, following the tradition of conceptual art. Her work focuses on the centrality of images in the contemporary world and the way we relate to them. From the early days of her career, she has produced photographs, videos and installations, and she has taken an interest in the many different formats of images and how they influence our interactions with the world.
Her works explore the new systems through which we obtain and disseminate images, such as mobile phones and social networks, which enable global access to visual information. Her works have a significant spatial dimension: the use of multiple screens and the importance of scale set up links between images and architecture.
