Albert Ràfols-Casamada

With one of the most solid pictorial careers in twentieth century Spanish art, Albert Ràfols-Casamada was a versatile artist whose work encompassed literature and poetry as well as a substantial body of visual work. The exhibition on his work at MACBA illustrated the importance of colour in his abstract paintings, his flirtations with mysticism, the influence of North American art and his contact with Neo-Expressionism. The publication includes a selection of works from the exhibition, a series of poems by the artist, and essays by Teresa Millet, Victoria Combalía, Jean-Pascal Léger and others.
