Positions in the Life World
20/10/1999 - 10/01/2000   MACBA
Her critical eye and her cutting, caustic ingenuity came to light in her early videos, such as Semiotics of the kitchen (1975) and Secrets from the Street (1980), marking out her importance to the development of the video and the feminist enterprise. Her photographic installation from 1974, The Bowery in Two Inadequate Descriptive Systems (collection of New York´s Whitney Museum and San Francisco MOMA) looks into the documentary and poetic aspects of photography and language. Her most recent group of photographs, Transitions and Digressions, revolves around the concepts of sexism, class discrimination, militarism and consumerism in today´s society.
