Reading a Collection

Program for secondary education and high school students

The project also includes two parts: the first takes place in the school, with the help of a CD, which the MACBA provides to the center and which is conceived as a tool to help teachers prepare the visit to the Museum.

The second part takes place in the Museum itself and enables participants to visit the MACBA Collection with a specialized monitor.

The aim of the project is to encourage the students to develop an interest in art and the society of their time and, through this work, to develop their critical, expressive, and dialogue skills.
For this course, the reading that we propose is entitled Between the Documentary and the Poetic Gesture.
The itinerary analyses the changes produced in artistic practices as since the end of the Second World War. Whether moved by the need to bear witness to what is happening (documentary) or to escape or distance itself from reality (poetry), art will always seek possible ways out and responses to the anguish that characterizes this period.
