Located in the South wing of the ancient Convent dels Àngels, the MACBA Study and Documentation Center opens to the public with the aim of developing and extending the Museum’s activities aimed at research, learning and artistic production, the creating of ideas and their dissemination.
On the one hand the Center subsumes the new MACBA Library, resulting from the conjoining of the holdings of the Alexandre Cirici Documentation Center and the Library of the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA); and on the other, the new archive, the aim of which is to collect specialized documentation on artists and creators.
Access to the library is free, subject to application for a reader’s ticket, which can be made in the Study Center itself.
The MACBA’s library, open to the public, is an excellent source of information on Contemporary Art, highlighting what has been produced world-wide over the past fifty years.
The Library shares an on-line catalogue with the MNAC available here.
Likewise, the MACBA Library is creating a Film Archive that will allow the public to reflect on Contemporary Video Creation.
