Introduction | | |
The MACBA Foundation is a private entity founded in 1987 and promoted by a wide range of representation from Catalonian civil society. Its objective is to actively contribute to the creation and development of the Contemporary Art Museum through the growth of its permanent collection.
The MACBA Foundation is made up of thirty-eight Sponsoring members and thirty-three Founding Businesses. Since 1988, and with the firm conviction that a city such as Barcelona, with its strong artistic tradition and vanguard, should boast a contemporary art museum of international prestige, the Sponsors and Founding Businesses have been economically supporting the Foundation in order to ensure the future of the MACBA’s permanent collection. The majority of the Founding Businesses continue to believe in the Foundation and participate periodically.
